  • Responsibilities

    NCI: As the Senior Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator IV), you will guide the work of lower level system administrators in an effort to move our existing network to the cloud. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments. 

     

    Highlights of Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations, servers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
    • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
    • Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
    • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues
    • May resolve problems within established practices
    • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities
    • Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
    • Plans and implements the modernization of servers
    • Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules
    • Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
    • Develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures
    • Works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented
    • Guides the  work of lower level Systems Administrators

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    •  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience
    •  10 – 15 years of experience

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) -or- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
      • Windows Server 2016, 2019
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)+
      • vSphere 6.7+
    • Microsoft Exchange 2013+ or Office365
    • Storage Area Networks (IBM, Pure, etc.)
    • Active Directory
    • ADFS
    • Azure cloud
    • Networking experience
      • Switching (Juniper, HP, Cisco, IBM)
      • Firewalls (Juniper, FortiGate)
    • NGINX
    • SolarWinds

    Physical Requirements:

     

    This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:

    • Sitting for long periods
    • Standing for long periods
    • Ambulate throughout an office
    • Ambulate between several buildings
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
    • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 25 pounds
    • Travel by land or air transportation 10%
