    NCI: As a Server Systems Administrator - Senior, provide non-personal Army Enterprise Internet Protocol Video TeleConference (IP-VTC) services supporting the United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM). Provide IT support to NETCOM and NETCOM supported organizations for Department of Defense (DoD) Information Network (DoDIN) hardware, software, data, applications, tools, and systems used/provided by the Army. Provide direct support to the NETCOM and its worldwide customers with business operations, Network Operations (NetOps), Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support, Cybersecurity, Knowledge Management (KM), Army Enterprise Service Ownership/Development and Capability Management, plus Content Management requirements for Army Enterprise IP-VTC capabilities and services. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.

    Highlights of responsibilities:

    • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
    • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains server systems in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
    • Monitors and tunes the server systems to achieve optimum performance levels
    • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
    • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning
    • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
    • Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services
    • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues
    • May resolve problems within established practices
    • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures
    • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
    • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation
    • Oversees the maintenance of data files and the monitoring of system configurations to ensure data integrity and develops procedures for and manages system backups and disaster recovery
    • Responsible for overseeing the creation, modification, and deletion of user accounts; addition of software drivers; and connections of systems to the network
    • Establishes, documents, and enforces system administration policies and procedures
    • Assist with cybersecurity functional support for assessments, authorizations, and documentation of enterprise fielded systems managed by NETCOM HQ.
    • Provide qualified and cleared personnel to support NETCOM with its Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
    • Provide support for the independent assessment of compliance of information systems with DoD RMF standards using DoDI 8510.01.
    • Provide personnel with experience with DoD security hardening, collection and assessment tools (STIGs, ACAS SCAP, Nessus, etc.) and experience with security architectures, firewalls and network access.



    • Clearance (required at performance start date): SECRET SSBI
    • Bachelor's Degree with 4 - 9 years of practical experience
    • Current Information Assurance (IA) certification (required at performance start date): IAT II (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP). 
    • Current Computing Environment (CE) certification (attainable within 6 months of performance start date): Microsoft Server 2012/2016 (MCSA/MCSE), CISCO CCNA or equivalent

    Preferred Education and Experience: 

    • CISCO CCNP Collaboration or CISCO CCIE certification
    • RMF experience and certification
