  • Overview

    The Quality Assurance Tester is responsible for working with the development team and business users to perform QA testing based on documented business requirements. Applying a thorough understanding of SDLC and SQA methodology, the QA Tester creates and maintains AUTOMATED scripts, and carries out hands on testing efforts both manually and using automated test tools to exercise software. The QA Tester also creates and updates defect tracking logs and works with development teams and users to ensure that all defects are resolved. QA Tester will assist Test Lead in preparing test plans and schedules by focusing on important testing and project priorities as agreed-upon with the Test Lead. Provide guidance to junior-level test engineers on manual and automated testing.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS BY LEVEL:

     

    SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER I

     

    • Performs routine design and test programs, processes, and systems to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services
    • Assists with writing basic test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications
    • Gathers basic test data and evaluates the results of tests to determine if product designs and architecture meets customer specifications and performance expectations
    • May develop basic test simulations to evaluate how products react under different conditions
    • Debugs basic test hardware and software to analyze product failure and assesses the integrity and reliability of product performance
    • Assists with any or all the Level 1 tasks as constrained by technical training and previous testing experience
    • Analyzes routine test cases and scenarios and reports results
    • Conducts research into and applies knowledge of Government Test and Evaluation (T&E) concepts and related engineering, acquisition, and operations activities as needed to support the T&E activities
    • May collaborate with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade product performance
    • Provides architectural and system/software engineering solutions to develop or integrate products and applications intended for use by the customer's system developers
    • Applies qualifications to data elements
    • Technologies that are prevalent within the existing products are JAVA, C++, XSLT, XML and scripting languages

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Must Have:

    • Applicants MUST be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Department of Justice (DOJ) Moderate Background Investigation (MBI)
    • Bachelor of Science in a technical field and 5 years of general technology experience required;
    • 3 years of test automation including developing frameworks and automated test scripts
    • Experience with databases, SQL, and Web-based applications is required;
    • 2 years of experience with HP UFT (Unified Functional Testing) test automation tool

    Desired

    • Experience with MS Office tools
    • Good interpersonal communication, written and verbal presentation skills for interacting with team members, leadership and clients;
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience
