    NCI: As a Medical Records Technician, you will process medical record requests, including: requesting ADR letters from PI if not initially included and also scanning medical records in the system per bene, as directed by SOP.  In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.


    • Collects, maintains, and makes available to authorized users timely, accurate, secure and complete patient health information
    • Reviews returned patient records for completeness
    • Maintains record privacy and security per policies
    • Ensures each sheet of patient information contains appropriate identifying information
    • Ensures that the amount of information contained in patient records is manageable and relevant
    • Adheres to established timelines to ensure availability of patient information (10-day TAT)
    • Communicates with Program Integrity and Medical Review as needed per case instances
    • Department serves as the key control point for records/file management
    • Retrieves records from the storage facility when requested
    • Documents new box numbers into Iron Mountain database working closely with staff for retrieval of stored material and coordinating with the storage facility vendor
    • Orders and sends records to offsite storage location
    • Ensures that Medicare Part A and B prepay claims received will be counted and logged
    • Scans all Medical Review records and other documents as needed
    • Provides clerical and administrative support for the contract business units as required according to individual unit workload requirements and needs
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and Medical Records Manager
    • Processes medical record requests, including: requesting ADR letters from PI if not initially include, scanning medical records in system per bene, as directed by SOP
    • Opens and correctly routes all mail relating to the distribution and workload processes
    • Correctly fulfills the assigned workload as assigned by team lead or manager
    • Maintains a neat, organized work area
    • Attends required education and training programs
    • Complies with departmental policies and procedures (SOPs)


    Minimum Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent related experience
    • 0 – 5 years of experience


    Preferred Experience:

    • At least six (6) months of medical record experience
