  • Responsibilities

    NCI: As a Data Scientist who is passionate about learning and artificial intelligence, you will develop solutions using automation technologies as part of a team of developers and engineers working in an Agile environment. You will be challenged and tasked with leveraging your data science skills to assist NCI with the launch of Shai™, our new Machine Learning platform. This is a great opportunity to create dynamic, state-of-the-art software applications utilizing cutting-edge AI technologies in a DevSecOps environment.  The ideal candidate has a general intellectual curiosity and passion for solving problems with an eye for optimization and efficiency. The role requires understanding our technical solution including machine learning, neural networks, robotic process automation, and natural language processing. 

     

    In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments

     

    Highlights of Responsibilities:

    • Buildout machine learning models, decision trees, NLP and more to recommend, forecast and address all business needs, questions and work with large sets of data
    • Digest complex data structures, perform statistical data reduction, summarization, normalization, and multivariate data analysis and report findings using advanced visualization techniques
    • Develop new software-based tools, applications and solutions to provide stakeholders the necessary tools they need to do their work
    • Prepares reports and correspondence that articulate highly complex program findings for dissemination to senior level team members
    • Translates business needs into long-term architecture solutions
    • Conducts unbiased assessment of industry architecture direction, emerging trends, best practices, automated tools, innovative approaches
    • Build and validate computational models and algorithms

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Math, Engineering and Science.
    • 8 years data science, artificial intelligence, and automation experience. 
    • 4 years hands-on experience designing and developing data science solutions.
    • Prior Artificial Intelligence experience with machine learning, neural networks, robotic process automation, and natural language processing.
    • Prior cloud experience building applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
    • Ability to explain data science concepts concisely to non-data scientists.
    • Sharp critical thinking skills, including systems analysis, problem analysis and resolution, and sound judgment/decision making ability

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Math, Engineering and Science.
    • AWS certification or equivalent expertise (DevOps, SysOps, Developer, or Architect).
    • Programming experience with languages such as Java, Ruby, Node.js, Python, C++ and PHP.
    • Experience with building Python ML models and put into production.
    • Experience with databases including Cassandra, HBase, MongoDB, MySQL.
    • Strong abilities with R and Hadoop, and Linux.
