    Responsibilities

    NCI: As the System Administrator, you will support the support the Army National Guard, Reserve Component Manpower System (RCMS). RCMS features a robust enterprise data warehouse which aggregates sources of information from many disparate systems. It provides data to and receives data from a multitude of Army systems.  You will administer a Microsoft web centric enterprise environment. Using various creative debugging methodologies and employing new innovative ideas to improve solutions that is deployed to support the needs of all National Guard members worldwide.  In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.

      

    • Performs troubleshooting and support to operating systems, peripheral devices, and layered software packages
    • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
    • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
    • Has a working knowledge of VMware virtualization and/or familiarization with Microsoft virtualization or AZURE cloud capabilities
    • Provides Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
    • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
    • Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
    • Provides assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
    • Applies necessary software fixes; monitors systems and performance; isolates problems within the infrastructure; performs diagnostic routines
    • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues
    • Manages file access control permissions and coordinates file access with customer base
    • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels
    • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
    • Supports media management through internal methods and procedures and through Continuity-of-Operations-Plan (COOP) storage and retrieval services
    • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures
    • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
    • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
    • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
    • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels
    • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
    • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning
    • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
    • Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through off-site storage and retrieval services
    • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues
    • May resolve problems within established practices
    • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures
    • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
    • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation
    • Oversees the maintenance of data files and the monitoring of system configurations to ensure data integrity and develops procedures for and manages system backups and disaster recovery
    • Responsible for overseeing the creation, modification, and deletion of user accounts; addition of software drivers; and connections of systems to the network
    • Establishes, documents, and enforces system administration policies and procedures
    • Support software deployment during off hours as needed

    Qualifications

    Requirement:

    •  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience
    • Active SECRET security clearance
    • Active 8570 (Security + certificate)
    • Additional Windows server certification to complement Security + to qualify as System Administrator
    •  4 - 9 years of experience
