    NCI: As the Drafter, you will drafts detail and assemble drawings of design components, using computer-assisted equipment or standard drafting techniques and devices. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor in meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.


    • Drafts detail and assembly drawings of design components, using computer-assisted equipment or standard drafting techniques and devices
    • Consults with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts and determines requirements of detailed working drawings
    • Locates files relating to specified design project in database library, loads program into computer, and records completed job data
    • Examines electronic/electrical/structural schematics and supporting documents to develop, compute and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of parts, dimensions and tolerances
    • Supervises and coordinates the work activities or lower level workers engaged in drafting, designing, assembling and testing layouts
    • Compares logic element configuration on display screen with engineering schematics and calculate figures to convert, redesign and modify elements
    • Reviews work orders and procedural manuals and confers with vendors and design staff to resolve problems and modify design (if needed)
    • Reviews blueprints to determine customer requirements and consults with assembler regarding schematics
    • Trains lower level staff to use drafting machines and to prepare schematic diagrams, block diagrams, control drawings, and logic diagrams
    • Generates computer tapes of final layout design to produce layered photo masks and photo plotting designs



    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent related experience
    • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
    • 4 – 9 Years
