    Highlights of Responsibilities:

    • Maintain highly visible production databases.
    • Maintain administration of existing enterprise databases
    • Analysis, design, and creation of new databases.
    • Perform data modeling,
    • Perform database optimization, performance tuning
    • Ability to interpret and write complex SQL queries.
    • Monitor systems for optimum performance and capacity constraints.
    • Establish standards and best practices for SQL.
    • Ability to work well in a team; willing to assist team members as needed.
    • Willingness to learn old/ new technology.



    • U.S. Citizens with the ability to successfully pass a Federal Government background investigation.
    • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related field.
    • 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
    • 4 years of experience with IBM UDB DB2 10.X or higher.
    • 4 years of experience with PostGreSQL and/or MySQL.
    • 4 years of experience with AIX and Linux operating systems.
    • Prior working experience within a Web environment and in a multi-contractor environment.
    • Be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule required to provide database on-call support evenings and weekends
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to adapt to changes quickly
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive in communicating progress and issues, and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
    • SQL tuning to insure optimum performance;
    • Database recovery services when requested
    • Researching and implementing corrective action to resolve database problems reported;
    • Developing and maintaining AIX/Linux scripts used in overnight production to perform various database administration tasks, such as reorganizations;
    • Maintain documentation for database functions managed by the database administration group



    • Advanced degree in an Information Technology related field.
    • Prior working experience with the following tools:
    • Database analysis and design;
    • UDB DB2 and SQL;
    • UDB DB2 Data Replication;
    • UDB DB2 system parameters;
    • Computer Associates’ ERWin modeling tool;
    • Quest Toad;
    • Tivoli Workload Manager;
    • ODBC and JDBC;
    • Scripting tools such as Korn Shell and Perl.
