    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS BY LEVEL:

     

    NCI:  As a Technical Writer (Technical Editor IV) supporting the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) Assistant Chief of Staff (ACofS), G3/5 you will apply subject matter expertise support to the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of documents in support of the NETCOM mission. You will check author's documents for spelling, grammar, consistency, and content problems (e.g., missing instructions or sections; redundant or unnecessary sections). You will review accuracy of content and ensure documents follow established style and format guidelines and recommend revisions to guidelines and processes as appropriate.  In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.


    Highlights of responsibilities:

    • Review all submitted documents for adherence to guidance documentation such as Government Printing Office style manual 2008, AR 25-50 and NETCOM PAM 25-52.
    • Ensure documents adhere to NETCOM technical signature policy and use the correct NETCOM-approved template and format.
    • Consult with authors regarding document content, readability, and consistency, and verify accuracy and completeness of references.
    • Candidate must be extremely detail-oriented to review documents for proper use of capitalization, italics, bold, numerals, spacing, correct spelling and grammar, etc.
    • Monitor the workflow of assigned documents through the established Document Management Process to ensure documents meet project schedule timelines.
    • Route and monitor documents through the Global Electronic Approval Routing System (GEARS) signature process and archive documents in accordance with policy.
    • Develop, organize, and maintain a SharePoint library for all documents.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current Active Secret Security Clearance.
    • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of related experience, or 12 years of practical experience in lieu of degree requirement.
    • Knowledge and experience with accuracy of content of technical documentation.
    • In-depth knowledge of Government and Commercial Technical Writing/Editing standards and best practices to include: Government Printing Office style manual 2008, AR 25-50 and 25-52, and NETCOM Pamphlet 25-52.
    • Expert level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, to include editing tools.
    • Candidate must have mastery of the English language and grammar, and be able to emphasize use of active writing in accordance with Army regulations.
    • Candidate must be capable of successfully prioritizing and organizing multiple, high-level priorities at all times.
    • Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees and customers

     PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with Knowledge Management and Content Management processes and activities.
    • Familiarity with content of technical documentation content including software testing and reporting processes, SOPs, build guides, etc.
