    Responsibilities

    NCI: As a Oracle PL/SQL Database Administrator, you will provide day to day support for the U.S. Air Force's Air Education Training Command (AETC). HQ AETC missions and operational objectives evolve in response to strategic Secretary of the Air Force, Office of Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer (SAF/CIO A6) guidance and direction. You will be a key contributor in the continued support of the Air Force's Advanced Distributed Learning System (ADLS) and their Promotion and Testing system (PTS) and its database servers. This position will provide on-site database administration support for the HQ AETC hosting environment to include creation, modifications and security of the databases, creation of appropriate schemas, maintaining user access, security updates as well as creation and/or modification of stored procedures and triggers. You will define and oversee database organization, standards, controls, procedures, and be responsible for creating/updating documentation for assigned servers.

     

     

    Highlights of Responsibilities:

    • Implements and maintains moderately complex databases, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation and statistical methods.
    • Maintains expertise in use of automated tools for database design and implementation.
    • Leads the maintenance of logical and physical data models (relational & dimensional), data dictionary and database volumetrics
    • Advises applications development staff and users on database solutions to business problems, data architectures, data base management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases.
    • Defines file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications.
    • Maintains database dictionaries, monitors standards and procedures and integration of systems through database design.
    • Maintains accurate and up-to-date knowledge of database information and requirements for maximizing database potential.
    • Ensures that databases are maintained to meet requirements at the lowest possible costs.
    • Assures the timely completion of the database projects and estimated costs.
    • Provides assistance to various clients as required for database design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
    • Maintains standards and documentation.
    • Assists senior database analyst staff in the identification and resolution of production and/or applications.
    • Assists in analysis activities associated with the maintenance of the database.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Administration Management Information Systems or a similar field, and at least four (4) years of experience as a database specialist, or equivalent related experience in lieu of education
    • Active Secret Security Clearance
    • Current Information Assurance (IA) certification (required at performance start date): DoD 8570 IAT Level II (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, Security+ CE, SSCP, or higher)

     

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Organizational Experience (Optional): HQ USAF or AF, or AETC
    • Experience working on Software Configuration Management, Visual Basic.
    • Experience supporting database systems: Access, SQL Server 2016, Oracle 11i, Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL
