    Responsibilities

    NCI: As a Sr. Network Specialist, you will provide day to day support for the Army National Guard Bureau’s mission and its 100+ servers and 3000+ end users.  The position will have a strong focus on customer and backend system support including:  VMware administration and configuration for both virtual servers and virtual desktop, Server 2012 and 2016, and Network switch infrastructure.   The administrator will also assist in the availability, reliability, and security of future Guard Bureau IT systems.  Other duties and task include SAN administration, fibre channel network administration, Active Directory administration, Windows Server administration and end user support. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments. 

     

     

    Highlights of Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows 2012R2 and 2016 servers.
    • Support, manage, configure and troubleshoot a VMware infrastructure with 12 ESX hosts and 100+ virtual machines.
    • Support, manage, configure and troubleshoot a VMware Horizon View virtual desktop deployment with 48 ESX hosts supporting up to 1500 virtual desktops.
    • Support and maintain storage area network consisting of HP 3PAR sans.
    • Manage Active Directory objects and group policy.
    • Perform utilization analysis on existing machines and provide suggestions for upgrades and/or replacement.
    • Perform general system administration activities.
    • Perform repairs, upgrades, modifications as required.
    • Maintain proper version of all software elements, including bug fixes and security patches.
    • Recommend new servers when necessary including specifying the configurations and performing hardware and software compatibility assessments.
    • Perform system testing and troubleshooting of servers as required.
    • Configure and manage off-site storage of backup, including backup of relevant data, encryption of relevant backup data and restoration.
    • Assist end users with server/network related issues.
    • Implement security and access controls.
    • Secure network in accordance with DISA STIGs.
    • Support network monitoring systems and transition to Solarwinds.
    • Perform utilization analysis on LAN infrastructure and provide suggestions for upgrades and/or replacement.
    • Perform general system administration activities.
    • Perform repairs, upgrades, modifications as required.
    • Identify security vulnerabilities within the network and server infrastructure
    • Produce detailed network diagrams/documentation.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Government, contract or supervisors in coordination with the SLA’s.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Requirements

    • Must have an active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
    • CompTIA Security+ certification (or CASP)
    • Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
    • 7 years equivalent job experience supporting administrating Microsoft Windows 2008/2012
    • 3 years VMware experience with both VMware and VSphere.
    • Ability to work on a team to provide IT support to customer
    • Ability to interact with and support end users in a military environment

     

    Preferred Education and Experience

     

    • Experience with VMware Horizon View.
    • Experience with HP 3Par SANs.
    • Familiar with HP C-Class blade series to include BL460 and BL465 blades.
    • Familiar with C7000 blade enclosures:  OA and virtual connects.
    • Experience with Cisco Switch/Router administration/configuration.
    • Experience with Nutanix virtual computing platforms
    • Ticketing systems; IssueTrak, Remedy
    • VCP Certification (Any Version) 6.5 Preferred
