    Responsibilities

    NCIAs an Enterprise VMware Virtualization Engineer Functional Area Expert (FAE), you will provide services in support of the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM). You will provide operational and technical engineering support for the implementation, testing, integration, interoperability, and sustainment of information technologies comprising NETCOM Enterprise capabilities. You will support engineering support, testing and technical support in the implementation of the Network Operations (NetOps) capabilities. Support government efforts in continued deployment of enterprise NetOps capabilities that directly support the Army’s maturing transformation and modularity concepts, doctrine, architecture, and organizations. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.

    Highlights of responsibilities:

    • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) for employment and troubleshooting of VM Ware infrastructure to host deployment of ITSM.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot all VMware Server deployment and virtualization issues. Identify important potential technologies and approaches to address current and future needs within the enterprise, evaluate their applicability and fit, and make recommendations to the Government based on the evaluation. Assist the Government in defining standards for virtualization technologies and best practices for their use.
    • Provide hands-on training to designated organizations for VM infrastructure for applications deployed to the enterprise.
    • Communicate detailed technical information both in writing and orally to a wide range of audiences.
    • Collaborate with Government personnel to understand and develop virtualization architectural solutions across the enterprise.
    • Provide SME to resolve Tier III support tickets involving VMware issues originating from the Army enterprise, and work with cross functional ITSM team members to resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
    • Provide Army Enterprise virtualization capability to install, configure and manage a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure.
    • Provide planning, installation, configuration, and upgrading support for vCenter Server and VMware ESXi. Plan and configure vSphere networking and storage solution s.
    • Develop plans for configuring, deploying, and administering virtual machines and vApps. Establish and maintaining service levels; perform basic troubleshooting; monitor vSphere implementations and vCenter server alarms.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • Current Information Assurance (IA) certification (required at performance start date): IAT III (CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP (or Associate), CASP CE, CISCO CCNP Security). IA Certification Category and Level (IAW DoD 8570.10-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002)
    • Current Computing Environment (CE) certification (attainable within 6 months of performance start date): VMware Certified Professional 6, or equivalent
    • Clearance (required at performance start date): IT Level I (in accordance with AR 25-2) SECRET SSBI
    • Bachelor’s Degree in IT 7 - 12 years practical experience
    • Five years practical experience in implementing and sustaining VMWARE installation, configuration, management and data protection of high-availability virtualized environment.
