    NCI: As a Senior Network Engineer, you will work with a team of network engineering professionals who are responsible for network engineering, documentation, and process improvement of a Government IP network that houses critical components in a physical security program which must insure full operability and unconditional reliability. NCI's Senior Network Engineer will also make recommendations for improvement of the network and assist with the design of future segments of the network. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.


    • Make recommendations for improvement of the network and assist with the design of future segments of the network. 
    • Network equipment inventory management, including reconciliation of network equipment in the field with a Government inventory system.
    • Network documentation inclusive of all switching and routing equipment, connected or soon-to-be-connected IP-addressable devices, and all cabling interconnects.
    • Assistance with day to day network maintenance to include installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of switched networks and network equipment.
    • Review and analysis of current network processes and procedures.
    • Develop and recommend improvements to network processes and procedures.
    • Implement, manage, and maintain approved network process improvement recommendations.
    • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control plans for maintenance of the network.
    • Review, analyze, document, and implement disaster recovery plans for the network.
    • Research, design, and implement security solutions for network infrastructure.
    • Track and report on identified information system vulnerabilities.
    • Monitor, review, analyze, performance tune, and make recommendations that will result in continued optimization of the network.
    • Manage firewall security appliances.
    • Keep the Government customer abreast of emerging network technologies and the latest network standards.
    • Lead projects as an Engineering Lead and/or Project Manager to develop secure resilient systems.
    • Prepare conceptual designs, schedules, and cost estimates for new and modified systems. 
    • Conduct design reviews.



    • This position requires possession of an Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance and the ability to obtain a Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) security clearance
    • Minimum 7 years experience with Cisco Networking equipment, software, programming, and design.
    • Associate's Degree
    • Certifications Required: Cisco Certified Network Associate

    Preferred Experiece:

    • Knowledge of standards, policies, principles, practices and techniques of network engineering and documentation.
    • Ability to research, compile, and analyze network design to assist with the resolution of daily network issues.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain procedures for ensuring the continued reliability of the network.
    • Demonstrated network programming ability.
    • Demonstrated ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, and routers.
    • Demonstrated ability to recognize and mitigate potential network security threats.
    • Demonstrated experience with network protocols, subnets, virtual LANs, firewalls, VPNs, and other common network technologies.
    • Understanding of multicast technologies and/or experience with digital video networking.
    • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, or Microstation.
    • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as the Capability Maturity Model
    • Familarity with Storage Area Networks or Network Attached Storage devices and the related management and design of said devices on a network.
    • Familiarity with Physical Security and Video Management Systems including CCure, Loronix, or other similar systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with management, staff, and people at all levels, both internally and externally.
    • Demonstrated skill and experience in presenting and effectively communicating comprehensive information, ideas and advice in a clear, concise and logical manner, both orally and in writing.
    • Knowledge of wireless networking technologies is desired, but not required.
