    NCI: As an IT Locator, you will provide on-site utility locate support services to actively support the organization better serve their customers with verifying and / or location of telecommunications cables at an excavation site. You will provide locator service for all digging permits on Fort Bragg. In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.


    Highlight of Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all cable locating requests are entered into the work order system.
    • Locate and mark buried communication cables IAW OSHA and industry standards. The markings shall be clearly visible from a distance of 30 feet.
    • Direct all emergency locate requests to the Army Enterprise Service Desk.
    • Ability to be on-call to support emergency locate requests.
    • Performs routine visual inspections on incoming components, in-process and finished assemblies and subassemblies for conformance with quality assurance standards and specifications.
    • Performs Quality Control (QC) assays, writing and establishing specifications, assisting in the validation of QC assays, and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Works from and follows established operating procedures.
    • Examines items for compliance with workmanship standards in assembly of components.



    • 2-3 years direct experience in the associated field.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
    • Active DoD Secret clearance or must be able to obtain Interim Secret clearance.
    • Intermediate knowledge of industry standards to include American National Standards (ANSI)/ Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/ Electronics Industry Alliance (EIA) Building Telecommunications Wiring Standards , National Electrical Code and IEEE 802.3 and 802.5
    • Intermediate experience with underground utility locating of copper and fiber cables.
    • Intermediate experience with the 3 methods of accurately locating cables: Direct Connect Method , Coupling Method and Induction Method.
