    NCIAs an Enterprise VMware Virtualization Engineer Systems Engineer - Senior, you will provide services in support of the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM). You will provide operational and technical engineering support for the implementation, testing, integration, interoperability, and sustainment of information technologies comprising NETCOM Enterprise capabilities. You will support engineering support, testing and technical support in the implementation of the Network Operations (NetOps) capabilities. Support government efforts in continued deployment of enterprise NetOps capabilities that directly support the Army’s maturing transformation and modularity concepts, doctrine, architecture, and organizations.  In assuming this position, you will be a critical contributor to meeting NCI's mission: To deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and services that enable our customers to rapidly adapt to dynamic environments.


    Highlights of responsibilities:

    • Provide Army Enterprise virtualization capability to install, configure and manage a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure.
    • Provide planning, installation, configuration, and upgrading support for vCenter Server and VMware ESXi. Plan and configure vSphere networking and storage solutions.
    • Develop plans for configuring, deploying, and administering virtual machines and vApps. Establish and maintaining service levels; perform basic troubleshooting; monitor vSphere implementations and vCenter server alarms.




    • Leads consulting services to members of professional staff and to the customer in the analysis and design data processing systems, management systems, scientific systems, and other related areas
    • Makes technical decisions on kinds of data to be gathered and methods to be used in data collection and analysis
    • Leads technical direction, guidance, and assistance to assigned projects, suggesting efficient approaches and methods for solving problems
    • Provides technical leadership for the integration or requirements, design and technology
    • Manages and ensures the technical integrity of the system baseline over time, continually updating it as various changes are imposed on the system during the lifecycle from development through deployment and operations and maintenance
    • In conjunction with system stakeholders, plans the verification efforts of new and unproven designs early in the development lifecycle to ensure compliance to established requirements
    • Supports the planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process (as well as other Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes)
    • Develops analytical and computational techniques and methodology for problem solution
    • Prepares and presents written and oral reports
    • Prepares and presents proposals, or portions thereof, primarily in field of specialty
    • Analyzes diagnoses, and recommends solutions to complex systems problems
    • Serves as lead analyst for research project
    • Develops advanced concepts of automation and information processing, display, control, and transfer for various subsystems
    • Conducts research and analysis of algorithms and defines data structures that lead to highly efficient system design parameters
    • Ultimately responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility




    • Current Information Assurance (IA) certification (required at performance start date): IAT III (CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP (or Associate), CASP). IA Certification Category and Level (IAW DoD 8570.10-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002)
    • Current Computing Environment (CE) certification (attainable within 6 months of performance start date): VMware Certified Professional 5-Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV), or equivalent
    • Clearance (required at performance start date): IT Level II (in accordance with AR 25-2) SECRET T3 (formerly NACLC)
    • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or eight (8) years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education
    • Five years practical experience in implementing and sustaining VMWARE installation, configuration, management and data protection of high-availability virtualized environment.





    • Master’s degree plus 5 years’ experience or bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ experience. In Engineering or computer science degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrical, Computer, or Computer Science




    This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:
